Nasarawa State – Keffi Local Government

Start date: February 6, 2023

End date: February 10, 2023

Aims:

The aim of ICS is child development and building of capacity of young Nigerians to be future leaders, through engaging them in community development activities.

  • At the end of the engagement, it is hoped that the street child would have possessed the power to explore the energy of the mind. Through educational toys, children develop skills called, executive function, the main characteristic of this elevated level brain activity is the ability to self-regulate. When this area of the brain is properly established, a child can regulate his or her emotions, behaviour, and is better able to counterattack impulses, and have a greater amount of self-control.
  • It will allow the participants to begin to prepare for how best to develop actions that will allow them to obtain their goals in today and even the future society.
  • A crop of young people who are likely to develop into social workers and development entrepreneurs would have been created.
  • Community members will realize that they have abilities that can change their societies; and not wait for the government all the time.
Objectives:

The following are the objectives of the project:

  • To sensitize the general public on the misleading notion that socioeconomic development lies solely in the hands of the government.
  • To contribute to the growth and educational development, social, emotional, and physical development of the street child by motivating and activating their knowledge of self-appreciation, thereby debunking the virulent deadly clutch of prejudice and social class
  • To show acknowledgement of the strength of the street child in self-sustenance and self-development
  • To instil the spirit of Nobility, Community Service and Continuity in the next generation by the involvement of youths as volunteers
  • To create an Interesting Life impacting, and memorable experience for the street child via a participatory atmosphere of games, fun and entertainment
